How to Get a Flat Stomach
There's more to getting a flat stomach than doing hundreds of crunches a day. In fact, all crunches do is strengthen the abdominal muscles. If you already have a layer of fat over your abs, doing crunches is not going to get rid of that fat. Doing crunches will still strengthen the abs, but you'll never ever see them if there's fat covering them.
How to Get a Flat Stomach with Food
The biggest factor that determines what your waistline looks like is by what you're putting into your mouth. It's what you're eating. Getting rid of fat all comes down to food intake. Exercise can play a major role as well, but if you're eating the right number of calories and choosing the right foods, that alone can result in a loss of belly fat, and fat all over the body.
The easiest way to determine how many calories your body needs (remember, everyone is different) is to use an online calorie counter. Though these are most often used to record the foods you've eaten, many of them also have a feature where you can calculate the number of calories your body needs. To lose one pound per week, simply lower caloric intake by 3,500, or by eating 500 less calories per day. Doing this alone will result in a loss of weight. Couple it with exercise and you've got a real fat loss solution.
How to Get a Flat Stomach with Exercise
Let me first just say that strength training is important for building muscle and toning the body. The more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn at rest (that is, without doing anything).
One thing that works great at burning fat is high-intensity interval training, or HIIT. HIIT is basically coupling intervals of sprinting with periods of recovery time. It's generally a very short workout, but also very intense. If you feel like passing out by the time you're done, you're probably doing it right.
Obtaining a flat stomach can be within anyone's reach, you just have to work at it by eating the right foods, keeping your caloric intake in check and getting regular exercise.
