How to Get a Home with Bad Credit
If you are thinking about getting a mortgage loan when your credit is bad, there are a few things you should know first.
The number one thing to realize is that if your credit is bad, it's going to be hard to get a mortgage. The good news is that while it's hard, it's not going to be impossible. The second thing to realize is that if your credit is bad, you are going to have to pay more money than someone with good credit. This is a fact and there is nothing you can do about this. If you see any advertisements or hear anyone claim this is not true, it's flat out not true. Banks always reward people with good credit better interest rates and penalize people with bad credit.
If you want to get a mortgage, you will have to look around to see what you can find. Visit banks and credit unions for a start. Or you can approach a mortgage broker.
Now, it can be an
uphill battle to get a mortgage from a bank when your credit is bad, but fortunately
banks don't just look at your credit score to determine whether you should
qualify for a mortgage or not. It's true that credit play a vital role in how
worthy you look to a bank in regards to getting a mortgage, but credit history
is not the only thing banks look at. There are other factors they examine as
well such as your assets, your recent credit payments, and of course your
overall income. If you score good with these factors, you may be offered a
mortgage home loan with bad credit.
If you can't get a mortgage from a bank, then you can still get a mortgage in the future, but you will need to spend a solid year trying to improve your credit history.
