How to Have a 5 Star Vacation for Less

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Everyone likes to travel and save money, right? You might think there is no way that you can have a 5 star vacation for less. Below are some tips for reducing the cost of your 5 star vacation. If you need any help booking your vacation, check out websites like Luxury Link and Expedia.

House Swap

You don't need to stay in a fancy hotel to have a 5 star vacation. Fancy hotels can cost $1,000 or more per night, which is obviously very expensive. Once you have decided where you want to go on vacation, do a quick Internet search for people looking to house swap in that location. Basically, with a house swap, you will swap houses with someone who is interested in taking a vacation to the area that you currently live in. A house swap is a trade, which means you won't have to pay anything. You probably aren't going to be in your accommodations much while you are on vacation, so why spend money when you don't have to?

Avoid Peak Travel Times

Your vacation is going to cost a lot more if you travel during peak travel times. If you are looking to have a 5 star vacation for less, you can forget about booking your vacation around a holiday. Not only do airlines charge more for peak travel times, but you will also pay more for amenities while you are on vacation. Many people do not realize that the cost of an airplane ticket partly depends on the time of day the flight is booked. For example, you are going to fly cheaper if you fly in the morning than in the afternoon. You will also save money if you leave for your vacation anywhere from Monday afternoon through Thursday morning and return during the same time frame the next week. Where you go on vacation can affect the price of your vacation, as well. For example, it is cheaper to go to Hawaii or Europe in the winter than it is in the summer.

Use Travel Websites

Travel websites exist to save you money. Believe it or not, you don't have to pay to use most travel websites. If you are dead set on staying in a hotel, a travel website may be able to save you money because travel websites keep track of unbooked rooms. Many travel websites also offer vacation packages that will include a car rental, food and amenities, which is going to reduce the cost of your 5 star vacation. If you are a member of the military or belong to certain organizations, you may also be able to save money by using a travel website to book your vacation.
