There are many things you can do to improve your odds of getting better faster when you have a cold. I personally have a runny nose right now and I'm coughing pretty bad. In desperation, I decided to search the internet for any tips and this article is a result of all that I have found. I hope it helps you like it helps me!
Step 1. Take plenty of Vitamin C. Whether you get your Vitamin C from supplements or from Orange Juice... it doesn't really matter as long as you're getting enough of it. It's super important because it really helps you get better. It helps your body heal itself.
Step 2. Remove stress! Your body is trying to tell you something by getting sick. You need to slow down in order to reinforce your immune system for the future. You don't get sick unless you are vulnerable. And you aren't vulnerable unless you have a lot of stress in your life. So learn to de-stress. Start meditating or doing yoga or tai chi or something. Anything to de-stress.
Step 3. Get plenty of rest. This step goes hand in hand with step 2. Sleeping and resting are two of the most important things you could be doing right now in order to get better fast. As you rest and/or sleep, your body will have time to rebuild its strength and to get better.
Step 4. Eat healthy meals. You need to give your body and mind all the fuel it needs to get better ASAP. This includes eating fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, no-fat dairy products, a little olive oil... lots of water! A multivitamin every day, etc...
QUICK BONUS TIP: Drink a nice hot drink to feel better almost immediately. The relief won't last forever but it sure does help to drink a hot cocoa or eat some chicken soup...
Step 5. If you can, get some exercise in. If you feel up to it, get at least 30 minutes of exercise every single day... not only until you feel better, but every day for the rest of your life! This will boost your immune system and train it to become stronger in case of future attacks.
