By then, he will already have developed some set patterns of behavior which can be very difficult to modify or change. On the other hand, younger puppies can be very impressionable and easily adopt proper behavioral habits. During this period of time, the puppy will also gauge your behavior and readily accept you as a companion. They are more than happy to welcome you to their life and want you to do the same. So, ensure that you forge a close bond with your new bond during these early stages of acquaintance.

  • If you catch him in his 'pre-potty syndromes' such as sniffing at a spot or going round in circles, then you should lift him up and take him outside. Show your displeasure by gently rebuking him.
  • Leash him and take him to the same spot every day. Wait till he completely eliminates his urine and feces.
  • Lightly reprimand your puppy whenever you catch him soiling the carpet or the floor.
  • Make him follow a regime during the initial days of puppy house training. Make him eat, sleep and play according to a fixed routine.
  • Never do 'Paper Training' with your puppy. Once you allow the pup to potty in papers, you will have a tough time teaching him to go outside and potty.
  • Praise him whenever he runs outdoors to potty. You can give the puppy a treat or gently pat him.
