This effectively increases your odds of winning by a multiple of however many tickets you bought. If you were to buy 50 tickets and the odds of winning that particular lottery is 1 in 10 million, your new odds of winning are 1 in 200,000.
By saving your money and playing when the jackpot dictates, you will be able to effectively increase your chances of winning the lottery. The hard part about this is sticking to your budget and dealing with the loss of a great sum of money when you play. Most people don't have the conviction to stick with this method.
