Many people set goals and even take initial action towards those goals but very few people are able to keep going until the goal is achieved. This is the main reason why most people fail to live the life that they truly want. In order to get yourself to do the things that you need to do, you need to develop self motivation.

Motivation is simply an emotion. All emotions whether it's positive or negative, can be triggered. In other words, you can have control over how you feel at any given moment. This can be quite powerful in terms of achieving your goals. If most people fail because they fail to continue to take action even when they don't feel like it, then in order to reverse this outcome, you will need to figure out a way to get yourself to do what you need to do even when you don't feel like it. The first thing you need to realize is that the way we feel is based on a couple of things. The first is what we focus on. Obviously, if you focus on how hard achieving the goal is or how long it's going to take, your level of motivation will probably drop. If you focus on how great it will feel the day that you reach your goal, then you will have more motivation to take action. The second thing that determines how we feel is how we use our body.

If you imagine a person with low confidence or someone who is lazy, would you be able to describe how his or her body posture is? It's simple right? Most likely, their head and shoulders are down while their breathing is slow. Now if you imagine someone who is pumped up and motivated, do you get a different image? Of course you do. So if you want to increase your self motivation, you will need to focus on the right things and at the same time, move and stand in a way that someone who is motivated would stand and move. Motivation or the lack of it is all within your control. Practice staying motivated and you will start to take more action. The more action you take towards your goals, the greater the chance you will have of obtaining them.
