The slip on exhaust, also known as the slip on muffler, is the last—but not the least—vital part of the motorbike’s exhaust unit. It is situated at the back part of the main pipe or exhaust and its size is usually half of that of the main one. It is known among motorcycle lovers as the part which improves the sound quality as well as the look of their units. But the function of this essential exhaust part is not just limited to producing a loud sound and a more appealing look. Rather, it also helps in limiting the amount of air which passes throughout the motorcycle’s exhaust system. With this kind of function, this part then helps in making the exhaust work easier and better. Another advantage of this exhaust unit is that is very easy to change; so easy that even beginners could change it without sweat.
So if there’s a need for you to change the slip on exhaust, or if you simply want to modify it according to your taste, don’t fret. Here is a simplified and easy-to-follow guide that will help you do the trick:
- Take out the existing exhaust. Using a socket, loosen the bolt found mid-pipe as well as the bolt which is holding the unit to the peg mount located at the higher rear part of the motorbike.
- Attach the new mounting hardware which comes with the new slip on muffler. This mounting device is none other than the peg mount. Position the said hardware to its intended position and using the socket once again, tighten the bolts to lock it in place.
- Place the new motorcycle exhaust systems. Slide this new part onto the bike’s headers and tighten them again onto the headers.
- Attach the can mount. From the top, glide the can mount to the mid-pipe and make sure that it is properly placed on the said position.
- Lock the mounting bracket. The mounting ring should be slid over the exhaust’s mid-pipe. After making sure that the slip on exhaust is placed on the right angle, you can now secure or lock the bracket, using the socket, to the bike’s back peg bracket.
No matter what kind of motorbike you have, changing this kind of exhaust will be just a cinch. So change your slip-on exhaust now to gain attention and power while on the road.
