How to Install a Toilet Yourself

By Edited Mar 7, 2016 0 0

There is no need to suffer silently with an ancient toilet. Learning how to install a toilet will be a fun activity, and you'll have a great new throne to boot! In fact, the whole process can take as little as one afternoon.

The great thing about toilets is that they come with all of the parts you will need to install them. There is no reason why you should have to run here there and everywhere to gather toilet parts when they sell ready to use kits.

The first thing you need to do is turn off the water that runs to the old toilet. You will need to dip out the water that is left over.

Then, you'll need to finish removing it by removing all of the nuts that hold everything together. Finally, you can get that old toilet out of there and replace it with the new one.

Get your new toilet ready and prepare the areas that need nuts and bolts. You can set it so that it has the wax ring in the center plus the bolts are showing through.

Always remember that this is a porcelain bowl and you can crack it if you are not careful enough. Tighten the bolts so that they won't come off, but not so tight that you break it.

The next thing you need to know when you're wondering how to install a toilet is how to place the tank. You'll need to put the tank where the bolts go to connect the tank and the bowel.

Always tighten the tank's nuts and bolts as well because you don't want any leaks. Once you're sure that everything is in place you can hook up the water supply.

It can seem very difficult to install your toilet. However, the toilet itself should come with step-by-step directions with pictures that can really help you.

Prepare yourself to spend a little bit of time doing this, but the results will be well worth it.

Now that you have your tank installed it is important to remember to take care of this one. Your old toilet might have gotten damaged or broken because it wasn't maintained properly.

Sometimes toilets just get old, but other times you can prevent having to replace them completely. Clean them out regularly and you should be in good shape.

Learning how to install a toilet can be a tricky thing. Some people are scared off because it involves knowing a little about plumbing. Consult the directions that come with your toilet and you'll be good to go.
