The easiest way to jailbreak Apple iOS version 4.3.3
Jailbreaking is the process of removing the limitations imposed by Apple to gain full access to the iOS operating system of Apple devices such as iPhone, iPod, iPad or iPad 2. This allows users to download and install applications which are not available in the official Apple App Store such as themes, extensions and cracked App Store apps. Jailbreaking also provides users more control on their devices because they can customize and enable features which are not previously available from the default Apple iOS. The method used by Comex (Nicholas Allegra) on how to jailbreak an Apple device was called the JailbreakME 3.0. This is the only available untethered jailbreak for iPad 2 and the easiest to use when jailbreaking Apple devices that runs iOS version 4.3.3.
Jailbreaking an Apple device is important because some programs in unlocking an iPhone require to jailbreak first, like the UltraSn0w. However, only limited number of basebands is eligible for unlocking. So, it doesn’t mean that your iPhone is jailbroken, you can also unlock it. You can visit my previous post to know more about the difference between jailbreaking and unlocking an iPhone.
Before proceeding to the jailbreak process, make sure to back up your device in iTunes to avoid losing important files in case you will need to restore your device as “new”. Although Apple says that it voids the warranty, you can easily restore your iPhone before bringing it to an Apple Store. Take note that JailbreakME 3.0 will only work on the following Apple devices with corresponding iOS versions:
- iPad 1: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPad 2: 4.3.3
- iPhone 3GS: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPhone 4: 4.3 to 4.3.3
- iPhone 4 CDMA: 4.2.6 to 4.2.8
- iPod touch 3g: 4.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.3
- iPod touch 4g: 4.3 to 4.3.3
The following are steps on how to jailbreak your Apple devices:
- Launch Safari from your Apple device and browse to www.JailbreakME.com.
- Tap “FREE” and “INSTALL” to start.
- Cydia will start to install in your device.
- Reboot your device after Cydia is installed.
Unlike other methods of jailbreaking, JailbreakME 3.0 does not need a computer in order to initiate the process. All you need is your Apple device and an internet connection.
Within just two weeks since JailbreakME 3.0 was launched in July, it reached to 2 million Apple devices jailbroken. That’s why Apple also released iOS version 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 a week after to cover the exploit made by Comex. Do not update to these iOS versions if you want to stay with an untethered jailbreak.
Thank you for reading and enjoy your jailbroken Apple devices.
