If you can't type quickly you are at a severe disadvantage in the workplace and if ever you need to write anything. This article will help you learn to type on a keyboard.

Keyboard

A Desire to Improve

Step 1

Begin by placing your hands along the QWERTY keyboard. When you learn to type you want to learn to do it right the first time.  Place your fingers correctly and learn to reach other keys with the proper fingers.

Step 2

The best thing you can do is to never glance at the keyboard.  Resist the strong urge to hunt out each key with your eyes and then follow with your fingers.  Once you memorize where the keys are you will type much more quickly on a QWERTY keyboard.

Step 3

Consider buying a typing program.  Programs like Mavis Beacon, and many others can train your fingers and your brain to type more quickly.  You will become familiar with the keys and then you will love Microsoft Word.

Step 4

The last step to learn to type on a keyboard is to practice.  Keyboarding takes a lot of practice, especially at first.  If you practice a little everyday, by the end of the month you should notice drastic improvement.
