How to Make Authentic English Sherry Trifle
An authentic English sherry trifle was a dessert served many times in the home of my late mother-in-law. She met my father-in-law during World War II, while he was serving in the American army and stationed in England. They married right before the war ended, and she came to America almost a year later.
Even though she became an American citizen, she still made many of her favorite English dishes. This authentic English sherry trifle was made for family gatherings. Six years after her death, my husband brought home his mother's recipe box. This trifle recipe came from his Auntie and was dated 1945. It's an oldie and a goodie, and it is written just as Auntie wrote it on the recipe card. I am so blessed to have these recipes to keep her memory alive for my children.
