How to Make Cheesy Bacon and Ham Potatoes
Things You Will Need
3 pounds of potatoes
1 16 ounce container of sour cream
A block of cheddar cheese
1 package of bacon
2 pounds of ham
Butter
Salt
Pepper
Garlic
Slow cooker
Step 1
You should start this meal 6-8 hours before you expect to eat. The first thing that you need to do is wash all of the potatoes to make sure that they are clean. You should then peel and thinly slice your potatoes and set aside.
Step 2
Next, add a tablespoon of butter to the bottom of your slow cooker and turn it on low.
Step 3
After that, add half of the potatoes, a teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of pepper and half of the sour cream.
Step 4
Cook the ham in the oven according to the directions. Cooking ham varies on time depending on how big the ham is. When the ham has finished cooking, dice it into small cubes. You should now cook your bacon as well. Bacon can be cooked in the microwave, but it tastes best to fry it over the stove. After the bacon has been cooked, crumble small pieces of the bacon into a bowl to make your own bacon bits.
Step 5
Add the diced ham and bacon to the potatoes that are cooking as a middle layer. Be sure to leave a small amount leftover to add at the end. This is also a great time to add garlic to your meal.
Step 6
Next, add the other half of the potatoes and the other half of sour cream to your slow cooker.
Step 7
Use a cheese grater to shred your cheddar cheese and top of your potatoes with this. You can now add any leftover diced ham and bacon bits that you may have left. Although the middle layer usually ends up blending together, adding some at the top is very delicious as well.
Step 8
Continue to allow this potato mix to cook on a low temperature for about4-6 hours. You can cook it a little longer if you need to but it is important to not cook it too long in case the potatoes become soggy. Serve this meal warm as your family gathers around the table for your delicious home cooked meal. As good as this meal is, your family will think that you spent hours preparing it when really, the slow cooker did all of the work.
Your family will be craving leftovers!
