How to Make Curried Meat Pies
Curried Meat Pies
I got this curried meat pie recipe, along with many others great recipes, from a Chinese friend many years ago. They are a great light meal idea, just add a side salad and some fresh fruit.
Something just a little different.
All I can say is, try them, you're sure to like .
Instructions and
Things You'll Need:
1/2-pound lean ground beef, ground turkey or ground chicken
1-tablespoon cooking sherry
1-cup chopped onion
1-1/2-teasppon curry powder
1-teaspoon salt and 1/2-teaspoon white granulated sugar
2-tablespoons bread crumbs, unseasoned
Pepperidge Farms pastry shells, 6 pack, thawed
1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
Step 1
Cook the ground beef
Prepare the filling:
Cook the 1/2 pound of ground beef in a frying pan. Drain all but 2 tablespoons fat.
Add 1 tablespoon cooking sherry and 1 cup chopped onion. Cook until onion is done.
Add: 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1-1/2 teaspoons curry powder
and 2 tablespoons bread crumbs. Set aside until cooled.
Step 2
Divide each pastry shell into 3 equal portions, and roll into balls. Flatten each one and with a rolling pin, roll out into 3 inch circles.
Place even amounts of filling in the center of each circle. Fold into a half moon shape. Pat edges to seal. Put on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Step 3
Brush with the egg yolk
Brush each curried meat pie with a couple of layers of egg yolk. Place in 350 degree oven and bake for 30 minutes. Or until lightly brown.

Comments
this recipe for meat pies sounds easy and a quick meal, thank you
Love the sound of this. I make French meat pies with so many odd spices like cinnamon, poultry seasoning, nutmeg. It seems they might taste funny but everyone likes them. Meat pies are so satisfying.
