How to Make Dad's Chili

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Dad was a busy man with 6 hungry people to feed so there was no time to mess around doing the gourmet thing. Give me practical and filling every time. This recipe goes together quickly and hits the spot on a cold winters night.

Things You Will Need

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced Spanish onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 (16-ounce) cans kidney beans
  • 1 can corn
  • 2 cans (29 oz) tomato puree
  • 1 can diced tomato
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder

  • Step 1

Start browning the meat in a sauce pan.

    Step 2

Dice the onion and chop the garlic. Add it to the meat.

    Step 3

    Open all of the cans.

    Step 4

Pour the puree, diced tomato, corn, and kidney beans in the pan.

    Step 5

Add the chili powder and let it simmer for about an hour. This is even better on day two. You can spice it up with your favorite hot sauce. I usually serve the hot sauce on the side. Sour cream and shredded cheddar are great with this dish. On the side I like a few slices of really crusty italian bread and butter. Always save some bread for the end to clean your plate. I have to stop writing about food because it makes me hungry.

    Enjoy!
