Learning how to make earrings is really easier than you think. You will surprise yourself with some of the things that you can come up with. On top of that, you will save yourself a lot lof money, while having fun at the same time.
What You Need
- 2 or more beads
- 2 head pins
- 2 ear wires
- flat nose pliers
- round nose pliers
- wire cutters
- Start by threading the beads onto the head pins, creating just over 1cm of space at the top.
- With the flat nosed pliers, bend the pin slightly until it forms a right angle to the last bead you threaded on. Take the wire cutters, and trim the top, making sure you still have a centermeter at the top.
- Now take the round nosed pliers and start to curl the wire, with the main aim of making a loop. You will end up with a full circle on the last bead.
- Open this loop with the flat nosed pliers. Hook your bead inside, and close it up again.
Upcycling has become more and more popular in recent times. This has even started to take over from recycling. It makes sense because recycling uses more energy. If you use your imagination, you can really come up with some works of art, just by using odds and ends that you are not using anymore.
There are people who are making money from finding things lying around the house. For example, it is a lot better to use an old pair of jeans and make a cushion cover from it, instead of pile it on a dump.
How to upcycle earrings?
There are many ways that you can make stunning earrings, just by using materials which will cost you next to nothing. Now that you know the basics, you can start designing. This is the fun part. The next time you are out at a bar, ask for those beer can tops or bootle lids. These are really pretty dangling off your ear lobe.
Here are some of the things that you can use
- tin cans
- wine corks
- milk cartons
- rolled up newspapers or magazines
Here are earrings made from paper, and wire up.
What you decide to use to attach to your ear is your choice completely. It is amazing how this can bring out your personality. Not everyone wants tabasco sauce jars dangling off their ears, but this may be nice for a fun night out.
The same goes with something like bullets. When you see someone coming straight for you with a pair of bullets on each ear, you may be in for a bit of a shock. You may think this is a bit of a joke, but the next person may be offended. Earrings can really make a statement, and this is what upcycling can do.
The end result depends on how creative you go with this. Adding one or two beads to the final product will help your earring stand out.
For example, you don't just want to hang a paperclip to your ear attached to a hook. You really want to put some thought and effort into this. Maybe you could paint it in a certain color that appeals to you. Once you have done that, you could thread a couple of small beads through there, and add a couple of pieces of thread to add some interest.
