How to Make Extra Money at your Job

By | Jan 24, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Nobody would ever turn down free money, and most people wouldn't turn down easy opportunities to earn a little extra money. However, many people are doing just that because they don't spend the extra time looking for those opportunities. If you already have a full time job, you could be missing those opportunities.

Of course, not everyone wants to know how to make extra money because they make enough and would rather spend their free time doing other things. However, if you're interested in getting some money making ideas that doesn't require you to get a second job or start your own business, these are perfect for you.

First, always ask for overtime if you can. Those that are paid by salary can't usually get overtime, and some employees aren't allowed to take overtime. If you do have the privilege of getting overtime, use it when you can. Do not slack off during regular hours just so you can catch up with overtime. This will not go over well with your employer, and if you consistently 'need extra time' you clearly can't do your job and might lose it.

There are instance where overtime is allowed without having regular work spill over. Ask about projects that are above and beyond your work load. Always volunteer when things come up. Suggest improvements that may need you to work overtime to set up. Not only do you get overtime, but you are improving the company which looks good for you.

Some companies will pay you to do community activities and volunteering. It's not really volunteering if you get paid for it, but nevertheless, it's another great opportunity to earn more money. Get in as many volunteer hours as you can to make the most possible.

Finally, take your skills off the job. If you have a skill that is in demand, consider doing it freelance. For example, if you are a newspaper editor, look for other editing jobs to do on the side. You can also do freelance writing, web design, bookkeeping, etc.

This isn't exactly 'on the job' extra money, but it's a way to use the skills you gain at work to make extra money. These ideas can be made into a part time business, or you can just do it now and then for extra cash when you need it. As for all of the ideas, if available, you can do as much or as little as you need.
