The delicious frosting is composed of a mixture of white chocolate and cream cheese. This cake does take some time to prepare, just like any layer cake. However, it will be well worth the work. Cameo Cake Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups of butter, avoid using margarine
  • 3/4 cups of water
  • 4 ounces of white chocolate, cut into small pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups of buttermilk
  • 4 large eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla flavoring
  • 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, divided, sift before measuring
  • 1 cup of toasted pecans, chopped
  • 2 1/4 cups of sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • White chocolate with cream cheese frosting, recipe to follow
  • Pecans or white chocolate for garnishing
  1. Place the butter and water into a medium size saucepan. Then bring it to a boil over medium heat. Stir occasionally. Then remove it from the heat source.
  2. Add in the pieces of white chocolate, stirring to blend as it melts.
  3. Mix in the buttermilk, eggs and vanilla flavoring. Then set the saucepan aside for now.
  4. Mix 1/2 cup of flour in with the pecans; toss to coat the pecans. Now set this aside.
  5. Mix the 3 cups of flour, sugar and baking soda together in a large size mixing bowl.
  6. Gradually add in the white chocolate mixture by stirring.
  7. Now fold in the coated pecan mixture. This will be a thin batter.
  8. Pour the cake batter evenly into 3 greased and floured round cake pans.
  9. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Test the cake with a toothpick, if it comes out clean, the cake is done.
  10. Place the cake pans on wire racks to cool for 10 minutes. Then remove the cakes from the pans to continue cooling on the wire racks.

Prepare the frosting as directed.

White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces of white chocolate bar
  • 12 ounces of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup of butter, softened
  • 6 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla flavoring
  1. Melt the white chocolate in a heavy bottom saucepan at low heat. Stir constantly. Avoid cooking the white chocolate too long or on too high of a heat, it can ruin it.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and cool for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. Cream the butter and cream cheese together in a large mixing bowl. Beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Slowly beat in the melted white chocolate, a little at a time.
  5. Add in the powdered sugar, a little at a time while continuing to beat.
  6. Last stir in the vanilla flavoring until well blended.

Spread the frosting between the layers of the cooled cameo cake, down the sides and on the top. Garnish the cake with pecans, toasted pecans or shaved white chocolate.
