How to Make a Ring Tone
If you are like me, you are sick of buying ring tones, and then when you purchase a new phone, for one reason or another, you can't transfer them and end up buying the same ring tone. Well I'm here to tell you, that there is an easy, and free, way to create your own ring tones from your favorite song, voice, or sound, and this article will tell you how.
Things You Will Need
Audacity open-source, free software (found here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)SD card for your phone (or a USB cord) for transferring data to your phone from your computer
Step 1
Go to this link and download Audacity for free. It is open-source and not harmful. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/Step 2
Open the software. Your Dashboard will look like this.Step 3
Click File, then open your song, sound, or voice. You will now be able to click and drag on the blue box. Select the portion of the file you would like to turn into a ring tone.Step 4
Click the "crop to" button that looks like this.Step 5
Now select File, and then export as WAV file. Take this file and copy and paste it into the My Sounds folder on your SD card. (The card should be formatted for your phone. If it is not, put the card in your phone and format it before transferring your file to the card.)Step 6
In your phone open your sounds, select the file and set as ring tone.As long as you purchase the song that you are creating the ring tone from, and you do not distribute it to others, there is nothing wrong, or illegal, about creating a ring tone for your own personal use. Have fun, and I hope you enjoyed my article.
