Distilling water with solar power is actually a lot easier than you probably think. This technique works great when camping and you run out of drinking water or if for some reason if you ever make an appearance on the TV show Survivor. Building a solar powered water distiller is also a super fun experiment to do at school or as a craft in your free time.All of the items can be found around your house, so there is no need to run out and pick up specialty items. When trying this out make sure the water source contains no toxins as many toxins will not be removed via evaporation.

Very cool - thanks for posting. I wonder if taking water like river/lake water etc. putting it through the same process then treating it with iodine of UV light would work? Or with those would you even need to evaporate it first?
