Maybe it's the almond and vanilla flavoring in these fabulous sugar cookies that makes them so delicous. Maybe it's the combination of butter and shortening. Whatever it is, they are the world's best. This is my Aunt's recipe that she had passed down to the family, and I am glad she did. Now, I am sharing it with you. I hope you enjoy. They are actually really easy to make, and so much fun to have the kids in your family make with you. Enjoy.
Ingredients you will need:
* 1 cup butter
* 1 cup butter flavor Crisco
* 1 cup powdered sugar
* 2 eggs
* 4 cups flour
* 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 1 teaspoon almond flavoring
Step 1. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2. Cream the butter, Crisco, and sugars together.
Step 3. Add the eggs and mix well.
Stepn 4. Add in the vanilla and almond flavorings and mix well.
Step 5. Mix in the dry ingredients.
Step 6. Chill in the refrigerator for about an hour or until well chilled all the way through.
Step 7. Remove from the refrigerator and roll dough into one inch balls.
Step 8. Place dough balls onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 9. Smash the balls of dough down with a sugared glass bottom. Do this by dipping the glass in sugar then smashing it on the cookie to flatten them out.
Step 10. Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
