How to Make the Cutest Elastic Baby Headbands for Babies

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

So now you are a stay at home mother and you think it might be easy to make some baby headbands. Well, it might not be as interesting as your old dynamite job was, but you just might have some fun putting these things together.

Let’s discuss an easy method for making baby headbands. The first thing you have to do is choose a material for the headband. Now, I like to use an elastic material.

Easy baby headbands are even easier if you go with elastic fabric. That way you don’t have to sew the fabric onto elastic. We will be discussing how to put easy baby headbands together using elastic material. If you end up choosing a different kind of material, then you will need to substitute in the step of sewing that material onto some elastic.

There are different ways of doing this, and I would suggest finding another guide which discusses the process. Okay, the first thing you will need to do is choose a fabric that looks right for your baby. Many new mothers don’t quite understand how to pick out fabrics for their babies.

You see, you need to find out what colors suit them the best. After you have picked out your specific elastic fabric, you are ready to start preparing the headband. This is one of the most exciting parts of the process.

You will need a tape measure for this part of the craft. Take the tape measure and wrap it around your baby’s head. This will tell you how long you need to cut the fabric.

Remember, you want the headband to wrap around the baby’s head. You don’t want it to squeeze too tight, and you also don’t want it to be too loose. Remember, baby’s heads grow very fast. If you make it a little big, that won’t be a problem.

In a few weeks in will fit just right. If you make it too tight, you won’t be able to use it until you have another kid. After you have cut out the appropriate length of elastic fabric, you are ready to attach the two ends together.

Now, there are two great ways to do this. I prefer one way highly over the other. The easiest way to do it, and also the most boring, is to just sew the two ends together. You can do this by hand, or with a sewing machine.

Once you sew the two sides together you will have created the headband. The other way is to sew a button onto the headband, and then cut a button hole on the other side. This can look a lot more adorable than just sewing the two ends together.

Now you know how to make easy baby headbands. As your baby grows up, you can keep on making them bigger and bigger headbands. One day they’ll be wearing the same size headbands as you are, and then you’ll have to cry because they’re all grown up.
