Flat screen televisions have quickly replaced older television models for many reasons. They take up much less space, are lightweight making them easier to move, provide superior picture quality and are far more energy efficient. While most people buy flat screens for their improved viewing quality, one added benefit of flat screen TVs are the fact that they can easily be mounted on a wall, much like hanging a picture. However for people who are short on wall space it can be difficult to determine the best location to mount the flat screen television. One not so obvious location is in the upper corner of your room. Although mounting a flat screen television in the corner of a room may sound difficult, it's really not. Here are the steps to follow to mount a flat screen TV using a corner mount system.
Things You Will Need
- Corner Mount Television Stand
- Flat Screen Television
- Stud Finder
- Screwdriver
- A Ladder or Step Stool
Step 1 Buy a corner mount television mount. These are specifically designed mounts that provide the amount of stability you need for this precarious positioning. They also swivel, so that you can tilt the flat screen tv up and down as well as side to side. If you have a smaller flat screen tv, you can go with either a single or double arm mount. If you have a larger flat screen tv, you need to select a double arm mount.Step 2 Locate the studs in your walls. Since you will need to install the flat screen tv mount into the studs, this will greatly determine where you place your television.
Step 3 Now that you have located the studs, decide which corner you want to mount the flat screen tv in (if you have multiple options). This is important because even though you can remove a corner tv mount, it's a lot of trouble and you don't want to.
Step 4 Read the instructions that come with your corner mounttv mount to mount the tv mount to the wall.
Tips & Warnings
· If you want to hide all of the cables that run from the flat screen tv, then cut a small hole in the drywall behind the mount. This allows you to run the cables down along the inside of the wall.
· Additionally, you may choose to hire an electrician to place an electrical outlet up at the top of the wall, near the flat screen tv.
· Even though wall mounts are sturdy if installed correctly, it's still not a great idea to sit or stand under mounted tvs for long periods of time, just in case.
