There is a massive industry built on acne. Companies have sustained for decades on it. Countless celebrity spokesmen have proclaimed to know the solution for it. With so many products on the market, full of chemicals, knowing the natural ways of combating blemishes is a healthy and economical alternative.

Before dishing out wads of cash for harmful chemicals, take a look at that natural remedies you can be using to naturally get rid of acne.

Tea tree oil has antibacterial, antimicrobial, and astringent properties all making it a great natural treatment for acne. Dirt and bacteria are what causes acne to develop and so thoroughly clearing the pores and killing bacteria prevents and clears up acne.


Within its long list of remedies and conditions it treats, clearing acne is one of honey’s lesser-known functions. Leaving a dab of raw honey on a pimple, covered with a Band-Aid, will kill the microbes of acne.

Coconut oil

The natural occurring acids in coconut oil that cleanse and purify the skin along with its nourishing vitamins and minerals make it an extremely effective natural remedy for getting rid of acne. Coconut oil is packed with lauric acid, a powerful antimicrobial and effectively treats a long list of diseases, sicknesses, and conditions.


Baking soda

Baking soda works in multiple ways for getting rid of acne. It exfoliates, reduces inflammation, and corrects the pH balance on the affected area. It removes oil and cleans out the bacteria that lead to pimples.

Lavender oil

The soothing essential oil can rejuvenate irritated skin, heals damaged skin cells, and is easy on the skin – doesn’t dry it out. Applying lightly diluted lavender oil helps restore skin and get rid of acne.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar balances the oil your skin produces, it clears out pours, and treats the underlying causes of acne.

To receive the deep cleaning effect, dilute about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into a cup of water, then with a cotton pad dab onto the face.

There are also many positive testimonies for drinking apple cider vinegar in a glass of water as a means for naturally getting rid of acne.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is an effective natural alternative to spot treating acne. After washing your face, application of lemon juice directly onto problem areas effectively kills and cleanses the skin. When using lemon juice to treat acne, it should remain on the skin for at least 30 minutes before being washed off. It can also stay on overnight.


Raw garlic

Garlic is full of natural antibodies, which make it great at killing the root causes of acne. It can be applied directly to the affected area.

Oil of oregano

Oil of oregano is a strong antibacterial and antioxidant that can give off a burning sensation and must be diluted to around. Some advise a ratio of 6:1.

A lot of these methods are optimized when used in conjunction with each other. Together they build a solid, well-rounded acne treatment and prevention plan.

Be cautious:

Natural products are just as strong, if not stronger, than over-the-counter products. Therefore, check for possible interactions with drugs you are taking or conditions you may have.

I have very oily, acne prone skin, and have found coconut oil to be the BEST thing I have ever put on my face. Good article ! I will have to try out some of the other natural remedies on here :)
