By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 1

If you are like most people, you currently have a closet that is busting at the seams with clothes and accessories. While it may be tempting just to pack up and move into a larger house, these is a good chance that this option is not possible for you. There is a more cost effective and easier option for you to look into. You could organize your closet. Now before you run off to call a realtor and start checking out houses, hear me out.
-
Being able to organize your closet is much easier then it seems. The time and effort that you put into avoiding this task is more than enough to finish the project. Just think about how when you organize your closet, you will not have to spend an hour looking for your favorite black boots in the morning. So lets get started.
-
Step One
-
Get bags or boxes to place clothes that you are getting rid of as you organize your closet. Either option will work for this method. One of the nice things about choosing bags is that it will be easier to fit them in the trunk of the car. Once you finis, you need to get rid of the unwanted items. You do not want transporting the items to be a problem for you.
-
Step Two
-
Designate 4 different areas for the belongings. One of the most important parts to organize your closet is to sort through what you own. Keeping what you do not need or use just makes for a lot of clutter and mess.
-
Step Three
-
Take everything out of your closet one piece at a time and place it into 1 of 4 piles. Pile number one is for items that you use often. Use a time frame of once a month as your guide. Second pile is for items that you have used in the last 8 months. The third pile is for items that are in ok condition but that you have not used in the last 8 months. The final pile is for broken or damaged things that need to be thrown out. Place every thing into one of these piles to organize your closet.
-
Step Four
-
Try on every piece in the second pile that you made of your belongings. If it fits then move it into pile number one. Things that do not fit right now go into the third pile. This is a yes or no step. There is no in between answers. So if it does not fit today, but you hope to lose weight to fit into it, you are going to put it in the third pile.
-
Step Five
-
Take the third pile of your clothing and donate it to the charity of your choice to organize your closet. There are many great groups out there that will accept donations. A couple to look into are Purple Heart and Salvation Army. Getting rid of the things that you do not use will free up a lot of space. This will make it much easier to know where every thing is at.
-
Step Six
-
Throw out the fourth pile of damaged items. You will waste time and money if you try to repair them. It is just easier to start wit a clean slate when you organize your closet.
