How to Pick a Swimsuit for Your Body Type

By Edited Apr 28, 2015 0 0

Picking a swimsuit for your body type isn't difficult. There are a few things to keep in mind. Every woman has at least one flaw; you have to know how to show off your best features while concealing the others. Places like One Hanes Place and Walmart are great sites to find the latest styles.

What Style Is Best?

Is a one piece or two piece suit is best for you? Some of the most stunning women wear one piece suits and look beautiful in them. They may show more back or cleavage. Women with great legs may should wear a suit that's cut higher in the thigh. If you plan to sunbathe on the beach, smaller two piece suits are fine, but for women who want to swim or snorkel, a one piece suit is definitely the way to go.

Choose a stretchy fabric that's comfortable. Try different styles and choose the style that's most flattering to your figure type and provides coverage for those problem areas.

Small or Large Bustline

Petite women with a small bustline look great in swimsuits from Brazilian designers that feature padding or an underwire. Ruffled and bandeau swimsuit tops are perfect. Women with larger bust sizes can wear halter tops. Swimsuits with adjustable straps are more comfortable for this figure type. One piece suits with wider shoulder straps will minimize the bustline.

Styles for Short Legs

Women who have shorter legs can accentuate the figure by wearing a swimsuit with a thigh high cut. This style makes the legs look longer. Another way to make you look taller is to wear a suit with a solid bottom and a print top. Make sure the solid color is the bottom. However, anything with a skirt will make you look even shorter. A one piece suit cut lower in the front is also a good choice for this figure type.

Tips for Long Body Shapes

Swimsuits accentuated with jewels or bows are appropriate for long body shapes. Wear something with a horizontal design to minimize a long torso and legs. Bright, tropical colors are good choices for this figure type. For two piece styles, try boy shorts that will give a little width to your hips. Two piece suits with ruffly skirts look great. Stay with bright colors and avoid dark colors which will make you look even thinner.

The Problem Waistline

Some women look like they have no waistline at all. For this figure type, one piece suits cut high on the thigh look great. Look for a style that has a belt or some embellishment at the waistline. One of the pretty draped styles, gathered at the waistline, also looks good. Two piece suits with with a ruffled skirt draws attention away from the waistline.

Styles for Larger Women

One piece swimsuits with a cutout look great on plus sizes. Detail around the hipline and styles cut lower in the front change your image. Dark colors are preferable to bright colors and large prints. A solid color swimsuit with a print center panel down the front draws attention away from the hipline. A sarong in a filmy fabric is flattering on the full figured woman.
