How to Pick the Right Tanning Lotion

By | Oct 20, 2009 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

There are a few factors to take into consideration when trying to pick the right tanning lotion. Many of the considerations are specific to the individual and the person's particular preferences. There are also limitations that have to be considered such as the person's spending limit and biological restrictions of their skin.

Knowing why you are looking for a tan is a good start. There are two reasons why people want to tan. The first is for aesthetic reasons and they care more about how they look than anything else. For this reason many people choose tanning lotions that create a fake tan on their skin.

Then there is the second, functional reason for tanning. The increase in melanin production that results in a tan offers more protection against the sun. Some people want a tan to protect themselves from burning too easily while on vacation.

Skin sensitivity is an important factor because to achieve optimal tanning you want to know the limit your skin can handle without burning. It all depends on how much of a tan your skin already has. But where ever you start, your skin will get stronger with regular exposure to light rays. Tanning lotions with vitamin E will help.

As far as paying for tanning goes, natural sun tanning is highly recommended for a number of reasons but primarily because it is free. If you choose to tan indoors then be sure to read all the fine print about membership fees and cancellation charges if you are only tanning seasonally.

There are a number of things to know about your tanning desires before buying tanning lotions. Indoor tanning lotions cannot be used for outdoor tanning and vice versa unless the label specifically states that the indoor tanning lotion is multifunctional.

It's hard to find any that don't smell funny! I hate that!
