How to Recognize Mesothelioma Symptoms: Both Types

By | Aug 30, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Cases of mesothelioma are on the rise and it's important to recognize the symptoms of medothelioma so diagnosis and treatment of this rare cancer can begin as soon as possible.

Observe the individual for mesothelioma symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, a dry cough and wheezing that can't otherwise be explained by allergies or a cold and flu. Write a description down of these symptoms along with the dates and times they are experienced. Write down information about the individual's activities at the time. Had they just been physically active? Did coughing wake them up?

Observe and write down any complaints about pain in the chest, rib and abdominal area. Again, wrote down the date, time and what the person was doing at the time the discomfort occurred.

Observe and document any unexplained weight loss. Has the person's eating habits changed? Is it hard for them to eat or are they experiencing symptoms of poor digestion and waste elimination?

Observe and document any episodes of night sweats.

Call and set up a doctor's appointment. Bring documentation of possible mesothelioma symptoms with you to discuss during the visit. There are two types of mesothelioma, Peritoneal and Pleural, the symptoms that have been documented will help narrow diagnosis of type sooner.
