How to Recover from Bankruptcy Responsibly

By | Aug 30, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

You can recover from bankruptcy, responsibly, by following some suggestions and being mindful of spending behaviors that got you into financial trouble to begin with.

Things You Will Need

credit reports from all 3 agencies
secured credit card
planning

Get your credit reports from all three of the major agencies. Look over them to make sure all of your accounts have been properly noted from your bankruptcy suit. Immediately contact them if they have not.

Pay all of your bills on time. This is very important. Sacrifice where you can in order to begin to recover.

Avoid any and all overtures from finance companies that may come your way. Do not agree to co-sign, or ask anyone to co-sign on any loans.

Apply for a secured credit card after a couple months. Use the secured credit card but keep the balance very low and make sure to pay it off at the end of every month. Don't apply for anything unless you are sure you will be approved as frequent inquiries into your credit can be damaging while you begin to rebuild your financial status.

Cancel any secure or high interest credit card right before seven years time has elapsed. Apply for one of the major credit cards at this time.

Obtain copies of your credit reports from the three major agencies when seven years has passed. Check them to make sure that there are no questionable notations on them and that the bankruptcy has been removed.
