• Step 2
Mention the name of your employer, spouses employer, and alumni affiliations. There may be additional discounts available for students. These discounts are not usually revealed unless you specifically say something. Ask for the discount. Do not be afraid to be bold when speaking to the insurance company.

• Step 3
Ask for rate reductions for taking defensive driving or continuing education classes. Some traffic offenses will be forgiven by the insurance company. This many times will result in a reduced price on car insurance.

• Step 4
If student discounts are available mail or fax in proof of enrollment.

• Step 5
Take the approved defensive driving class and send in proof of completion.

• Step 6
Contact the car insurance company at last three times a year, to ask for additional ways to low car insurance rates. Ask for discounts for paying the annual car insurance rate at one time install of monthly payment.

Delaying sending in documentation can cause you to not receive a decrease in car insurance rate. Check back with the insurance company a few times a year to check for lower rates. Use these tips to help keep car insurance rates low.

Good article! Although car insurances are expensive, it still advisable to purchase one because it will greatly help you in the event of an accident. Today, many states require drivers to buy their own car insurance so that they will be able to receive financial assistance when an accident happens. For example, in California, drivers are required to purchase a liability insurance.
