Belly fat can be such a troubling situation for so many people these days. Extra weight can put a major strain on your daily activities and also impact your self esteem in a severe way. Packing on the extra pounds eventually gets out of control and it can also have a big impact on your health. In fact, people who carry excess belly fat tend to be at greater risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes and some forms of cancer.

Belly fat tends to become an increased issue as we age. As we grow older, some of us become less active. Combine this with the fact that our metabolisms begin to slow down, meaning we don't burn off calories quite as easily as in our younger days. There's also been reports and studies that married couples tend to put on the pounds easier as well, due to the fact they feel more comfortable together, and begin to not worry so much about what they eat. However, as we grow older we may also be at an increased risk for heart disease, stroke and other severe health concerns. Therefore, winning the "battle of the bulge" is essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and extending our life expectancies. So it's a good idea to learn how to get rid of belly fat, but in a healthy manner.

Luckily there are plenty of ways to reduce your belly fat or love handles. Those stubborn areas of excess weight don't have to be a continuous problem in your life. Through healthy lifestyle changes in your daily routine, you can begin to drop weight so you can start to look and feel great. Incorporating more exercise into your daily routine, whether it be taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walking a half hour or more, or using a gym cardio machine can help to seriously burn belly fat off. There are also various foods for a lose belly fat diet which will help to reduce fat. Adding in more proteins, fibers, fruits, vegetables and other important nutrients will do the trick. An increase in protein in particular will keep you feeling fuller and stave off hunger cravings. Also, many Americans don't get nearly enough daily fiber in their diets, so adding this important nutritional component can help as well.

Beware of those products on the market that claim you can lose belly weight super fast though, because these extraordinary claims aren't always backed up by good scientific data. In fact the FDA issued a warning on one particular weight loss product, and the company eventually recalled it, due to the fact it was linked to one death and also liver damage. So these products should be viewed with great caution and in most cases, avoided.

Let it be known that you don't have to be ridiculed and stared at for carrying excess weight. You can make a conscious decision to start taking control of the issue and start to begin to lose belly fat and love handles. As you do, you'll begin to feel better about yourself and start to enjoy life that much more!
