It is not advisable to smoke cigarettes in your home, as the odor can be rather odious and it can pose a health hazard to innocent children, pets and non-smoking adults. However, if you do wish to continue smoking in your home or allow others to smoke, there are some ways to get rid of the lingering odors of cigarettes. Read on if you wish to know how to remove cigarette odor from your home.

1. Step 1

For a start, you can try placing small bowls of vinegar, or activated charcoal around the room. Next, close off the room overnight.

2. Step 2

You can try spritzing your favorite perfume or cologne on a cold light bulb. When the light is switched on, the warm scent will fill the room thus removing cigarette odors.

3. Step 3

Fill ashtrays with cat litter to extinguish cigarettes and remove cigarette smoke odors.

4. Step 4

Sprinkle copious amounts of baking soda on carpets, and upholstery around the room. Let it linger overnight and vacuum the room the next day. Baking soda is very effective in removing cigarette odor.

5. Step 5

Soak a rag in vinegar, wring out the excess and wave it around the room for a minute or two.

6. Step 6

You can also consider getting an air purifier to remove cigarette odors. These air purifiers help to promote air circulation in your home and capture smoke particles and other impurities in the air via electrostatic means. These air purifiers cost more than the carbon filter purifiers, but they clean more and are very effective in removing cigarette smoke odor.

You can use any of the above-mentioned cigarette odor removal methods to remove cigarette smoke odor from your home. Cleaning the air of cigarette odors can help to keep your home smelling fresh, but refraining from smoking indoors is probably still the best cigarette smoke odor removal method of all.
