How to Repair Vertical Blinds
Are your window covering damaged or is it starting to deteriorate because of age? You want to replace it but you don't have enough money for it? Then you might consider repairing it instead.Have you ever heard about plantation shutters?
Most problems of vertical blinds are coming from the vanes of the said window covering. Vanes are those blades of the vertical blinds which are hanged vertically to create shade to the room. Vanes are commonly stucked and because of it the cords are useless and the and the whole window covering can't be used. To fix this problem, you need to focus on the vanes to make it work again. There are also problems that are concerned in the strings which maybe the strings are broken. Through this, one can save money by not buying and instead just repairing it.
If the problem is about the stucked vane then the first thing you should do is remove it from the holder or the carrier. Removing the vanes actually varies to the type of material that is used as the window covering. Removing the vanes may involve unscrewing or some may be by unhooking the vanes from the holder or carrier.
After successfully removing the vanes out of the holder or carrier, check the cause of any stucked vanes that caused it to malfunction. After checking it, correct any suspected cause of it then check again to see any suspicious thing aside from the one that is already fixed. If the problem is about the broken strings, then after removing the vanes remove or if possible tie the broken string together. If tying it would not affect the functions of the vertical blinds, then consider it fixed and place back the vanes into the holder or carrier.
If these are the problems, then it would be unnecessary to buy or replace a new one for the vertical blinds. Through this, one would be able to save money. But if the problem is a serious one like torn vanes, then repairing it would be useless or even if the you failed to reconnect the broken strings together .
If the problems are like the ones that mentioned above, then the best solution for it would be replacing it but not the whole vertical blind but if possible the vanes only or even the strings only. There are actually vanes and strings out there sold separately for those who want to replace their vanes or strings. Through this way, one can somehow save money but before buying the vanes and strings be sure to check the brand and model of your vertical blind. In this case, knowing the brand and model would assure you that the vanes and strings are fitted for your vertical blind.
So therefore, if you want to buy a vane or string replacement then before removing it, it would be best to check for any manufacturer's name or brand, and model. If you are unsure of the brand and model of the vertical blind then it would be best to remove it then bring it with you when buying for any replacement. Show it to any representatives of the hardware store since most of them know best. Though this, you are sure that it would fit your carrier or holder, but it may give you additional burden of bringing it with you to the hardware store. Some may have brought with the plantation
shutters the whole vertical blind, through that they can ask for the representative to remove and replace the broken vanes or strings for you without you doing the work.
