As an Internet content writer, your work is constantly being evaluated by both your viewers and by the Google search engine. Unfortunately, you may be able to appease your viewers with consistently good work, but not Google.

The engineers at Google apply changes to their internal programs on a frequent basis. They adjust the metrics that are used to rank content against keywords that people search for. Google engineers do this in order to defeat tricks that some writers exploit. Essentially, Google tries to purify their results for visitors.

Writers will likely be affected by Google updates, even writers who do not attempt to employ tricks. While the actions of Google may appear to be overly punitive, good writers can respond to the latest Google internal algorithm updates simply by providing quality content.

Quality writing work will not attract penalties from search algorithms. More importantly, it will be relevant to those searching for such information. With quality, and relevance, comes traffic.

Lastly, readers tend to appreciate articles that provide information using more descriptive phrasing.

The primary consideration as an author is to provide quality work for readers. The old reliance of simple repetition is no longer helpful, and is now actually harmful. Quality text, with alternate terms to describe key concepts, is much better. Such methods actually improve the rank of the article. It also makes the finished piece easier to read.

As authors incorporate quality, natural writing into their Internet portfolio, they should find that they are less impacted by search algorithm changes. This will reduce the penalties incurred by authors. It will also increase the authority of the author. Ultimately, the amount of traffic, and success of the article, will increase.

Proper attention to article performance is advised for authors. Be sure to track normal traffic patterns to your work. As time progresses, you should be able to determine the normal amount of viewers that your work gets in a day, or month. If you see drastic drops in the readership, you should investigate to find explanations. Your work, or the site content, could be penalized by others, often through no fault of your own.

If you are impacted by traffic penalties, you should determine ways to rectify your problem. While quality writing may avoid this issue all together, if you are affected, your response should be immediate. Make changes to your work that helps to remove any penalty. If this doesn't work, or is impossible, you may need to move your portfolio of articles. Luckily there are many publishing sites that will accept your quality work. You can also publish on your own hosted web site. If you do move your work, however, be sure to copy the article first, delete it from the problem web site, then publish on a new one. You don't want there to be two live copies of your work.
