How to Sell Girl Scout Cookies With Your Daisy Troop

By | 2 Comments | Rating: 1 | |

If you are a Girl Scout leader, then you need to know how to sell Girl Scout cookies with your Daisy troop. For Girl Scouts, cookie season is the most wonderful time of the year! Armed with Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos, and Samoas, girls across the nation aim to earn money for their troop. Once reserved for older girls, Daisy's are now able to sell cookies along with Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes.

Selling cookies with kindergarten and first grade girls, who range in age from five to seven, will need different handling than selling with older girls, who are more mature and who have experience selling.

If this is the first Daisy year selling cookies, and the Cookie Mom and Leader are new to this, keep the sales small and controlled. One idea is to order one case of cookies per Daisy Scout. For example, if you have twelve girls, then you order twelve cases. Then you mix up the cases so the girls have a variety to sell and not just one kind. The Cookie Manager will give you the sheet and that will give you ordering guidelines.

This first year of cookie selling is to build confidence. The girls should go with a parent door-to-door to familiar neighbors to see if any would like to buy a box. If you are going to sell in this manner, be sure to bring quarters and dollar bills for change.

If this is something you do not wish to do, then have your child call or ask in person family friends and relatives. Selling cookies at the office may get rid of the cookies, but is your daughter really earning her cookie patch that way?

If you committed to a booth sale, then make sure your Daisies have a shift of no more than thirty to forty-five minutes each. Their attention span might not last longer than that. Be sure to tell the girls to smile, ask politely, and say "thank you" to everyone who purchases a box.

Following these strategies will be a good introduction for your troop to selling Girl Scout Cookies.

Thank you, Travis! I really dislike everything about cookie selling, but am glad to hear when people enjoy getting their fix! Thin mints are delicious frozen!
