How to Setup The Perfect Makeup Kit

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

If there is one thing to be said about having the perfect makeup kit, it is that being prepared is always in style. Makeup is the way that we improve upon our natural beauty and put our best foot forward. This is why it is so important to make sure you have the right assortment of makeup on hand to satisfy any beauty need. This means that the next time that you have a special occasion to get ready for, you will not have to include a run to the store in your getting ready plans. The perfect makeup kit will have it all and then some to help you get ready, no matter what your plans for the day may.
-
Step One
-
The beginning of any makeup routine is applying your foundation or base makeup. It is for this reason that this is the best place to start building your perfect makeup kit. You will want to make sure that the foundation that you have is well matched to your skin tone. The best way to do this is to go to a makeup counter and have makeup artist match your skin for you. This way you will know that your foundation will always look its best.
-
Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to foundation, is that you should always have three forms of it in your makeup kit to cover all of your beauty needs. The first one that you will need is your basic liquid foundation. This will be a medium coverage and probably the makeup that you will most often use. The second must have is tinted moisturizer. This will be used on those "non" makeup days. The final piece for your makeup kit will be a powder foundation. This can be used on its own for a light coverage look or applied over your liquid foundation to give you more coverage.
-
Step Two
-
Concealer is the one piece of makeup that most people could not live without. It is the tool in your makeup kit that can hide any flaw on your face. Choose a concealer that is a shade to a shade and a half lighter then your skin color. Cream is usually the most common type of concealer and can usually cover all of your bases.
-
Step Three
-
When it comes to eye makeup, this is where you get to have some fun. You will want to have the basic colors like browns and creams to go for those soft natural looks. However, the fun comes in when you choose a few different color pallets to compliment your eye color. Always buy your colors in 4 packs for your makeup kit. This will give you the shading and highlighting colors that you will need to get all of those popular eye looks.
-
It is a good idea to have at least three eye liners in your makeup kit if not more. The basics are brown, black, and grey. These three colors will get you through any beauty need that you may have. If you are into more color, you can build upon these three and add some color eye liners to compliment the eye shadows that you have included in your makeup kit.
-
The final piece to the eye puzzle is mascara. For this it is simple. You just need a basic black mascara to go with any type of look that you could need to create.
-
Step Four
-
There are a couple of items that you will need in your makeup kit to create powerful cheek bones for your makeup looks. The first is going to be a powder bronzer. This is the makeup artist trick to making it look like you just spent the day outside enjoying the sun. The second need is a basic blush that will you a rosy complexion. That is all that you need to get great cheeks with your makeup kit.
-
Step Five
-
The lips are one of those places that most people seem to buy a lot of colors that they never use. The first key is to find three lipstick colors that you love. Based on those colors, purchase a couple of lipsticks and lip glosses for your makeup case. Another secret to building the perfect makeup kit is that you only need one lip liner. A lip liner that is the natural shade of your lips.
-
Step Six
-
Now that you have the makeup to fill your makeup kit, you need to have the right tools to apply it. The first thing you will need is a pack of cosmetic sponges. These sponges can be used for a multitude of things. You will need a foundation brush and a concealer brush for your makeup kit. These brushes are made to apply wet makeup to your face.
-
The rest of the brushes that you will need include a few eye shadow brushes in various sizes. An angled brush to apply eye liner and eye shadow. The best brush to include in your makeup kit is a large powder brush. It can be used to apply everything from powder to blush. Make sure that you invest in quality brushes. This investment will pay off in longer lasting brushes and better makeup application to help you look your best. The final thing to remember about your brushes is to clean them on a regular basis to avoid makeup building up in them.
-
Step Seven
-
Now that you have all the makeup and equipment to go in the makeup kit, you need some place to store them. You should find a makeup kit that has multiple compartments that can easily sort all of your supplies. You will also want something that can be closed up to keep dust and dirt from getting in your makeup.
-
Tip
-
Makeup does not last forever. There are some pieces of your makeup that will go bad faster then others like your mascara. A good rule of thumb is to get new makeup every 6 to 8 months. This is more then the usual usage rate of most makeups and will make sure that your makeup has not gone bad. And this is truly important when it comes to building the perfect makeup kit.
