According to the Mayo Clinic, uterine fibroids plague 70 to 80 percent of pre-menopausal women. 30-percent of those affected have symptoms ranging from mild cramps and enlarge abdomens to severe pain and infertility. Science has come a long way in terms of treating uterine fibroids by developing several treatments, which include both invasive and non-invasive procedures. Even so, many women do not get the option of natural medicine and natural therapies, says Dr. Nicholas LeRoy- a well-respected Chiropractor based in Michigan. Increased estrogen production directly relate to the growth of fibroid tumors. A plant-based diet, high in fiber is a good plan for treating fibroids, says Dr. LeRoy. You can shrink fibroids with diet, but you will also need to add fibrin-destroying supplements to help in your overall goal.

  1. Distilled water
  2. Organic fruit and vegetables
  3. Green tea
  4. Nattokinase food or supplements

Step 1

Visit your doctor to get an accurate diagnosis through a pelvic exam, ultrasound, hysteroscopy or MRI. Get an accurate count of fibroids as well as their sizes and locations. Talk to your doctor about all the solutions available to you to help treat your fibroids including alternative medicine and ways to shrink fibroids with diet.

Step 2

Limit the amount of meat, dairy and eggs that have added hormones. Read the packaging to ensure that you buy free-range meats, which are hormone free. Reduce or even eliminate processes meat from your diet until your condition improves.

Step 3

Limit or eliminate alcohol use while fibroids persist. Drink only in moderation or on special occasions if alcohol is a part of your regular routine since alcohol has a tendency to raise estrogen levels. Substitute wine and other forms of alcohol with the non-alcoholic version found in many health food stores. Change your diet to mainly plant-based. Eat plenty of papaya and pineapple-both have very powerful clot dissolving enzymes.

Step 5

Eat plenty of fiber to keep the digestive track clean. Consume natural sources of soluble fiber such as flaxseed, dried beans, psyllium husk, apples, oranges and carrots in order to bind the estrogen hormone inside the digestive tract so it leaves the system with more ease. Add these foods in abundance to help shrink your fibroids and lose weight.

Step 6

Incorporate herbal teas in your routine to help shrink fibroids with diet. According to a study publish March 2010 in "American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology", green tea extract inhibits uterine leiomyoma or uterine fibroid growth. Drink green tea freely during the day. Make iced green tea by steeping the leaves as directed on the packaging, letting it cool and then pouring it into a pitcher. Add lemon juice from freshly squeezed lemon for extra vitamin, minerals and flavor. Store it in your refrigerator for future use. Drink a cup of hot green tea before going to bed. Use molasses to sweeten your tea instead of sugar because of its high iron and mineral content, which helps in blood circulation.

Step 7

Drink plenty of water. Drink plenty of filtered water daily. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice for flavor and extra vitamins and minerals.

Step 8

Do not use diet alone to treat uterine fibroids, says Dr. Leroy, supplement with vitamins, minerals, and plant enzymes, which are effective in controlling estrogen. Use supplements such as Fibrovan-which contains nattokinase or Fibrovera-which contains nattokinase, the papain enzyme from the papaya and the bromelain enzyme from the pineapple. Many women have experienced amazing results shrinking their fibroids with diet and supplements.
