How to Spot Early Warning Signs of Diabetes

You can spot the early warning signs of diabetes and get a ahead of this devastating disease. The following steps will help you to recognize the warning signs for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Monitor and write down on paper how often the individual uses the restroom. Frequent urination is an early warning sign of diabetes.

Monitor and record episodes of unquenchable thirst. Before being diagnosed, many diabetics have an almost constant feeling of thirst.

Observe and write down any unexplained weight loss. If the individual hasn't been trying to lose weight and has been eating as they normally do, this can be an early warning sign of diabetes.

Write down episodes of fatigue, what the individual had been doing when they became fatigued and how long the feeling lasted.

Write down any feelings of numbness or tingling in the body, especially in extremities. Draw a rough outline of the body and notate, as well as possible, where the numbness or tingling occurred.

Watch any wounds closely. make a not of any that do not heal or heal slowly. An early warning sign, and complication of diabetes, is the body's slow healing of cuts, scrapes, blisters and larger wounds.
