How to Stay Cool in your Cab

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Trucking jobs can be difficult in harsh weather. It can be dangerous and uncomfortable at times. Summer temperatures can be brutal, especially for truckers who are constantly exposed to the harsh weather. It is important while you are on the road to make sure you stay hydrated and comfortable. Many cabs have air conditioning, which makes the summer heat much more bearable. But for those who do not have air conditioning in their cabs, here are a few things to know before you head out in crazy temperatures.

1. Always, always, always have beverages with you on the road. If you insist on drinking a lot of soda, beware that soda will dehydrate you. Make sure you are drinking even more water if you drink a lot of soda. Drinking lots of water is ideal because it keeps you cool internally and prevents hydration.

2. Purchase a small fan for your cab. You can plug the van into an adaptor so you are able to power it. You can certainly count on breeze from the open windows in your cab, but the fan will add even extra air to your face. Plus, you can direct it exactly where you want to feel the air.

3. Use a sun shade when you park your truck during breaks or meals. Your goal is to keep your cab as cool as possible, even if you are not in the cab at the moment. If possible, find shaded areas to park your truck.

4. Buy a spray bottle and fill it with water. If you feel yourself getting extremely hot and dizzy, pull your truck over and spray your body and face with the mist. This is a great way for you to get your temperature down. Then drink a lot of water.
