Debt Relief

Debt relief grants have been around for several years, but few people are aware that they exist. The federal and state governments offer them to help citizens who struggle to pay their bills. Securing this type of help is not as difficult as securing a conventional loan.  With loans, the process requires that you put up collateral. However, with grants you are not required to put up such collateral for a debt relief grant. All you need to do is meet the specific guidelines and  requirements.

Step 1

These grants are for people who are able to prove they cannot pay back the money they owe. To receive grants, you must prove you cannot meet your loan obligations.

Step 2

Gather documents like pay stubs and income tax returns to show how much you earn each month to prove your need. You'll also need to gather outstanding bill statements and any other financial information that proves your need.

Step 3

Determine which kind of help that you need. There is assistance for all types of small business; grants to relieve you from the burden of student loans; and grants for middle-income families who are struggling to meet their financial obligations.

Step 4

The federal (such as Social Security) or state government agency will use your financial information to decide if you qualify. They want to assure that these grants are going to those who truly need them.

Step 5

Apply for the particular grant that fits your need. When applying, make sure you follow all instructions. Failing to do so could cause a delay in receiving the money you need.

No one wants to be in over their heads. Being in debt not only causes financial troubles, but it  can cause physical and psychological troubles as well due to the stress that it brings on. Therefore, a side benefit in eliminating debt will be an improvement in your over all health.
