It is so important for kids to love reading. But how do you help them learn to love it? There are lots of ways, and here are a few to help you get started.

Things You Will Need

books

time

patience

Step 1

The first step to teaching your children to love to read is to learn to love reading yourself. Kids learn from example, if they see you reading a lot and loving it the whole time then odds are they will learn to love it too! Sit and read in front of your children, and give them books to look at while you are doing that.

Step 2

Keep books on your coffee table and in your car. The easier it is for kids to get to the books the more they will want to look at them.

Step 3

Make sure you have a wide variety of books available for your child. You don't want them getting bored with the same ole same ole. Picture books, learning books, fun books...any kind...just make sure you have them! You can easily buy lots of cheap books at thrift stores or even your local library if they have a used book section.

Step 4

Lastly, make reading exciting! If you are reading a book about an animal that loves to bake cookies...maybe you should bake some cookies with your child afterwards! It's a great way to make reading interactive. If you are reading about how different animals fall asleep...maybe you can draw pictures of those animals sleeping when your done. Get creative!

Reading a lot will increase your child's vocabulary, and give them confidence in school. Helping your child in this respect is one of the best things you could do.

Tips & Warnings

Reading to your kids is very important! Read books to your kids everyday!!
Remember that these tips do not guarantee that your child will learn to love to read.
