How to Tease Your Hair

Teased Hairstyle

Teasing your hair isn’t the easiest thing to do and quite a few people may find that they have trouble accomplishing this particular hairstyle. However, what you may not realize is that it is actually quite a bit easier than you might think. The question is—where do you start?

What Do You Need?

First of all, you have to know what to use to get this hairstyle. If you are going to tease your hair, you will need a thin-tooth comb, preferably with a tail, and you will need a brush. If you plan on putting your hair up once you have teased the part that you would like teased, you should have a few hairbows on hand. You will also need a little bit of hairspray if you want your hair to stay for longer than an hour or so.

First Things First:

To start, determine what part of your hair you are going to tease. Most girls start this hairstyle with the crown back and just tease that part. Make sure to section out this part; if you do it on a regular basis, eventually the part will come naturally. However, doing so on a regular basis isn’t such a great idea…

Next, take your comb and comb the piece you are going to tease upwards and the rest that you don’t want to tease downwards. Hold the piece you are going to tease with one hand and apply a quick spray or two of hairspray to the back of the hair/the part that won’t be seen when you brush your hair back down.

At this point, start to backcomb your hair. You shouldn’t need any more hairspray until you are almost done again. When you are done, add one last spritz.

Here’s How You Neaten Things Up

Now comes the part that can be a bit tricky—to smooth down the top without ruining your poof…and without showing the part that has been teased.

First of all, you need to have your brush ready. Very gently brush down at the top until it is as smooth as you can get it. Make sure to check the back as well. You may see a little bit of a part where the hair that has been smoothed falls down over the hair that was not teased. In this case, gently brush your un-teased hair and the tail of the poof together until they are seamless.

Finish this hairstyle off with a quick spray of hairspray all over and voila! You’re done!
