How to Tie a Tie - Simple Small Knot

 

Introduction

 

This article provides simple instructions for how to tie a tie with a simple small knot. Tying a small knot takes less steps than tying other kinds of tie knots. Nonetheless, the result looks the same. The small knot is a thin tie knot used to tie ties made from thick material.

 

Instructions

Step 1 - Start with the wide end of the tie on your right side extending about one foot below the narrow end.

Step 2 - Twist the wide end so that the seam is showing. Cross the narrow end over the wide end.

Step 3 - Pass the wide end around the back and up through the loop.

Step 4 - Pass the wide end down through the front of the knot. Hold the narrow end of the tie with one hand. With the other hand, carefully slide the knot up to the center of the collar.
