Steps to Shrink Your Fibroid Naturally
Many women struggle with uterine fibroid tumors. When small these tumors go unnoticed. Most women who have fibroids don't notice them at all. Symptoms usually only start when there are multiple tumors or if the tumors get large. As they grow, they can cause a variety of problems including:
- heavy periods
- back pain
- uterine cramping
- painful periods
- abdominal bloating
- pain during sexual intercourse
- difficulty defecating
- frequent urination
- early labor
Uterine fibroid tumors can be removed surgically. There are several surgical procedures that are used to remove tumors.
During a myomectomy the surgeon makes a small incision in the abdomen, cuts the fibroid away from the uterus, and then removes only the fibroid.
Uterine fibroid embolization is another procedure used to treat fibroids. During this procedure the blood supply to the fibroid is cut off causing it to shrink overtime.
If you don't expect to have anymore children or your fibroids are too big your doctor may sugguest a hysterectomy. During this procedure the entire uterus is removed.
Before opting for a surgical treatment, you may want to try to shrink your fibroids naturally. Here are some steps you can take to do so.
Remove all processed foods from your diet. Don't eat white flour, processed sugars, or any other processed foods. Make vegetables the staple of your diet. Eat organic produce when possible.
Stop eating pasteurized dairy. The hormones and antibiotics given to conventionally raised cows encourage the growth of fibroids. If you must have milk try nut milk or raw (unpasteurized) organic milk.
Eat less meat. Some people will tell you not to eat meat at all. You don't necessarily have to cut meat out completely, but you shouldn't eat meat at every meal. When you do eat meat only buy organic free range meat.
Stop eating soy. Soy products, like tofu and soy milk, contain a chemical that mimics estrogen called a phytoestrogen. Phytoestrogens encourage fibroid growth.
Stop storing your food in plastic containers. There are chemicals in plastic that can seep into your food. These chemicals also mimic estrogen and encourage fibroid growth. Try using glass or metal containers to store your food when possible.
Exercise. Start doing cardio for 30 minutes a day 5 days a week.
Start using a natural progesterone cream. Some people have had success getting rid of uterine fibroid tumors by using natural progesterone creams. These creams are usually made from a wild yam extract. They help decrease heavy bleeding during your period, decrease menstrual cramps, and ease PMS.
Use castor oil compresses. Apply a castor oil compress to your abdomen at least 4 times a week.
- Put a clean flannel cloth in warm castor oil.
- Place the cloth on your abdomen over your uterus.
- Put a plastic bag and a small towel over that to protect your heating pad.
- Put a heating pad on top of the towel and another towel over that to keep your compress warm.
- Lay with the pack on your abdomen for 30 to 60 minutes.
Castor oil is quite messy. Make sure you lay a towel under you to protect the surface you're laying on. Use old towels that you don't mind getting ruined.
Stop taking birth control pills. The hormones in birth control pills encourage fibroid growth.
Cut stress and any feelings of resentment you might have. Holding on to negative emotions encourages toxic build-up in your body. Try practicing deep breathing, mediation or yoga to help calm your spirit.
You may want to supplement this program with the use of herbal supplements like vitex (chaste tree berry), cramp bark, dandelion, milk thistle, red raspberry, and motherwart. I'd recommend working with a Mayan Abdominal Massage Therapist. Mayan Abdominal Massage is used to treat various problems with the female reproduction system. Therapists trained in this massage are also trained in herbalism and can recommend herbs to nourish the uterus while shrinking your fibroid.
Your fibroids won't shrink overnight. It will take time.
