How to Unfollow People on Pinterest

By | Nov 10, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Pinterest is a sort of a combination of a social networking site and the bookmarking tool on your computer.

It is neat in that when you are carousing the Internet, all you have to do when you see an image of something that you like is quick the “Pin It” button.

Once you have done that, it will add it to your collection of things that you have previously found attractive, inspiring, wish list worthy, or whatever really–you get to categorize things however you like.

When you 1st join Pinterest, you will be asked about what kind of things you're interested in; travel, recipes, fashion, interior design, arts and crafts and fitness themes, just to name a few.

When you express you are interested in any of the things in these categories, Pinterest is going to automatically have you follow people who are contributors to those categories.

When I joined, I found that I really wasn't interested in following most of the people that they had signed me up to follow.

Unfortunately, this is one of the many features that this social networking site is not very clear on exactly how it functions; how do you unfollow someone on Pinterest?

So, I set out on an informal search to find out how to unfollow the people that were posting things that I was not interested in.

As it turns out, all you have to do to unfollow someone on Pinterest is to simply hover over their avatar icon, where it says “un-follow”, if you are already following the person.

At this time, that little unfollow option only shows up if you hover over their picture. If you are not already following the person for example, this section would say “follow”.

Whenever you follow someone on Pinterest you are going to be flooded with the kinds of things that they are liking and spinning from around the World Wide Web.

There's nothing wrong with being the 1st to know about someone else's interests, but it can be kind of annoying when you are automatically signed up to follow someone, and you're really not sure how to un-follow them.

Pinterest has grown rapidly in popularity, and is at the time of this writing somewhere in the range of the 350th most popular website in the entire world.

It's a great way for people to share interests, or just collect interests of their own that they might otherwise forget about once they stepped away from their computer.

It's ideal for those who like collecting recipes, arts and crafts ideas, motivational images and concepts, or just things that they want to remember to check out on a deeper level at a later date.

The warning that I will give out about Pinterest is that they are not very good at maintaining your privacy when it comes to respecting your wishes about how much they share from your other social networking sites (you have to use Facebook to open an account).

You can set your Pinterest privacy in a rough roundabout way by saying that you don't want to be connected to your facebook once you're signed up, but they still allow people from your friends list to find you, so it is still not entirely disconnected.
