How to Unzip a File Using WinZip

By | May 21, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

If you have files that you need to access in a compression file or a WinZip file, but you do not know how to go about getting them out, follow these directions to gain access to the files that you need. The first thing that you are going to need to do is open the WinZip file. You do this by double clicking on it, or you can also right click on the file. If you are double clicking on the file, what you need to do is go to the unzip menu when you open the program. By doing so, you will find that a menu has appeared that will ask you where you want to UnZip the files to. By Unzipping a file, you are going to decompress the files from a compressed version meaning you are going to take files that have been reduced in size and you are going to increase them back to their original size for use on your computer.

WinZip is used to make file sizes smaller to save room on your computer hard drive. It is also used to make files smaller for transfer using CD's or any transfer method that you can think of. When you get to the decompress menu, all you have to do is select a location for your files to be extracted to. This can be anywhere on your computer, but the most favorable place for ease of access is your desktop. If you have multiple files or folders, make sure that you use the extract all function. If you want to just extract a single one single file, make sure you click on the file that you want to extract and then click unzip or extract. You will then be able to extract the files onto your computer and use them at your discretion. The files will be back to their original size and you will be able to use them as you would have prior to becoming compressed or zipped.

Once you have extracted the files that you want to use, you can feel free to delete the WinZip file unless you want to save it to transfer somewhere else, onto another computer in a smaller size. If you are not going to need to use the file again, you may delete it. This is how to unzip a file using WinZip on Windows or any computer application.
