Rather than continuing to throw money away on waxing products that contain so many chemicals and are not good for skin, you can remove unwanted hair with sugar. Sugaring has been around for centuries, as a matter of fact, Egyptians used this method to remove hair in their beauty and skin care routines. This method is gentler to the skin that regular waxing and leaves the skin feeling softer because honey is used.

Things You Will Need

2 cups sugar
1/8 cup fresh lemon juice
1/8 cup water
3 tbsp. honey
Small pot
Small spatula, tongue depressor or popsicle stick.
Cotton material cut into strips

Combine the 2 cups of sugar, the 1/8 cup of fresh lemon juice, the 1/8 cup water and the 3 tablespoons of honey in a sturdy 2 quart pot.

Heat this mixture just until it begins to boil making sure to stir it constantly. Once it shows the first signs of boiling, turn the stove top down to simmer. Continue to stir until all of the sugar has melted and the mixture starts to become a slightly tinted golden brown. Remove from the heat once this has happened.

Set the homemade sugaring mixture aside and allow to cool for at least 20 minutes. Stir the mixture thoroughly again and apply a small drop to your palm to test to see if it is too hot. Sugar can reach very high temperatures quickly and will cause painful burns to skin.

Use a small spatula, tongue depressor or popsicle stick to apply the sugar to small sections of the body at a time. Spread the mixture on in the same direction that the hair is growing.

Smooth a strip of cotton material over the area in the same direction as the hair growth. Make sure that the cotton material is adhering to the mixture.

Once the homemade sugaring mixture has dried, hold the skin taught and pull the strip of material off in the opposite direction that the hair is growing in. Repeat steps until all of the areas that you wish to remove hair from are finished.

Sugaring irritates skin far less than waxes but if irritation occurs; apply a cool washcloth to the area. Aloe Vera Gel will also help to soothe skin if it left feeling irritated. Don't used lotions with fragrance because the alcohols used in fragrances will further irritate the skin.
