How to Use a Self Help Book

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

It may seem like using a self help book is self-explanatory but this isnâ € ™t always true. How many do you have on your bookshelf? And how many of those have you actually put into use? If you are like many people the answer is probably pretty close to none of them. The next time you purchase a self help book, follow these steps.

Things You Will Need

A Self Help Book

Step 1

Sit down and read the book. Do not use a self help book as a doorstop or a conversation piece. Instead, try to read a bit at a time if you cannot quickly get through it. You bought the self help book because you felt it would benefit you in some way and it will, even if it takes you a year to read the entire thing.

Step 2

Make notes inside the self help book. Write down your thoughts on the methods suggested. Maybe you disagree, wouldnâ € ™t do it, or have a slightly different take that you believe would work better for you and your situation.

Step 3

Take one step, or section, at a time. If you feel you can only change one thing, or do only one thing or project in the self help book, then just do that one thing. Once you are comfortable with that one item you can choose another and if not, then at least you took something away from the self help book.

Step 4

Give the self help book away when you are done with it. Even if you do not get anything out of it someone else may be greatly helped by it.

It is more important to get the right self-help book in the first place.
