How to Wash Comforters and Bedding
When it comes time to wash comforters and bedspreads, most of labels
say to dry clean only. However, you can hand wash almost all of them
and achieve the same results without spending the additional cost, or
having chemicals left on your bedding. Here is how to hand wash a
comforter in the comforts of your own home.
Things You Will Need

Gentle Laundry Detergent
Step 1
Fill a bathtub will cold to lukewarm water. Hot water will sometimes shrink delicate fabrics and cause colors to run together so it's best to avoid it.Step 2
Add laundry detergent to the tub of water and swish around to mix. Use slightly more laundry detergent in the tub than you would normally out into your washer.Step 3
Add the comforter or bedspread and completely submerge in the water.Step 4
Swish the comforter or bedspread around in the water for a few minutes.Step 5
Allow the comforter to soak in the water for approximately five minutes.Step 6
Pull the comforter to one end of the tub and drain out the water.Step 7
Fill the tub with clean cool water. Once filled, swish the comforter around in it to rinse out the soap residue.Step 8
Remove the comforter from the tub and wring out the excess water.Step 9
Dry the comforter on a line outside, or tumble dry in your dryer on very low heat. There you have it. Now you have clean bedding and didn't have to pay an outrageous dry cleaning bill to do it.
