How to Watch US Netflix in Canada on Your XBox 360

Stuff you need:

A computer with 2 network interfaces (wi-fi and ethernet, for example)
A network cable
An XBox 360 with an ethernet adapter
A Netflix account (US or Canadian).
An Astrill VPN account. You can get a free 7 day trial at Astrill.com

Steps:

1. Connect your computer to the internet on one of your network interfaces. If you only have 1 wi-fi adapter and 1 ethernet adapter like most laptops, connect to the internet using wi-fi adapter.

2. Connect your Xbox 360 to your computer using a network ethernet cable. Leave the Xbox 360 off for now.

3. On your computer, in your network settings, enable Internet Connection Sharing for your Astrill VPN OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSEC or PPTP VPN connection. Windows instructions here. Mac instructions here. Be sure to share your Astrill connection, and set the adapter that is connected to the XBox 360 as the adapter you are sharing with.

4. On your computer, connect to the Astrill VPN using the OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSEC or PPTP VPN connection. Verify from your computer that you can connect to Netflix.com and can stream US content.

5. Turn on your XBox 360. Go into your Network Settings and set it to Wired/Automatic.

6. Once connected and signed into Xbox Live, launch Netflix. You should now be able to stream the US content from Netflix.

Note that it is also possible to connect your computer to the internet with the ethernet adapter, and share it to your XBox 360 using your wi-fi adapter using Windows Wireless Hosted Network or OSX connection sharing.
